adelaide and wine
A couple of weeks back I headed down to Adelaide with Amy to visit a few of her relatives and to taste the wine from the surrounding area. Adelaide is in South Australia and is quite a small city however it is the only ‘big place’ for a few hundred miles around.
We stayed in the delightful Pine Tree Cottage in Wilunga , which has Fox Creek and several other wineries on its door step. Driving around the countryside there looked like the following picture - long straight roads, hardly any traffic and lots of vines!
Mclaren Vale
Top vineyards there were Shottesbrook and Coriole, the latter doing excellant platters with their homegrown olive oil.

Coriole - Wine, Platters, Olive Oil, great coffee and a very friendly dog!
In central Mclaren vale (which is not saying much as its about 25 houses, a handful of shops and a couple of pubs) was the Hardys ‘cellar door’ (see below) for Tintara. There we tasted several great wines and bought a couple of the tempranillo’s.
