If like me your HTC Desire is saying “low on space” or the disk is getting full, you might be wondering what to do!

I had an issue where when uninstalling some apps my Mail application would show as 20-30meg size, when things seemed to be empty.

What really was happening is every time I hit ‘delete’ on an email it just moved it to Trash! As a result over 4000 emails were stored there, taking up the space.

Solution: Open the Mail application, click / hit Menu button and select ‘Trash’. Once all the messages show up (could take a second for alot!) click Menu again, then select the Delete icon with a bin. Another screen will come up, with Delete (0) showing. Hit Menu again, then choose “Mark All” and after a tick red crosses will appear by all messages. Then click ‘Delete’ on the bottom left and wait as it chugs through the messages! Job done.

One thing to note, if you have like I had several thousand messages, do a ‘sort by size’ first (by hitting menu in the inital Trash view) and delete the bigger messages first.
